The speculation comes after he returned from an intensive 10-day training camp in the USA with the AFL Academy level two squad.
The squad comprises 35 of the most talented young footballers in the country.
Callum Twomey, afl.com.au's draft expert, has suggested Tucker is in the mix to be selected with this year's number one overall pick.
"Right now there are a few names worth keeping an eye on throughout the year as possible early selections,'' he said.
"Tucker is a strongly built, professional and dedicated player who was an All Australian last year.''
If Tucker was selected first he would become the Wimmera's highest ever draftee since the draft was established in 1986.
The current highest Wimmera draftee is Nhill's Jason McCartney, who was picked by Collingwood with the fourth selection in 1990.
Tucker said he was simply focused on having a good season for the North Ballarat Rebels in the TAC Cup rather than his draft prospects.
"It is good to know I'm considered up there but there is a long way to go before the draft," he said.
"It's only early and there's a massive season ahead so I try not to think about that stuff - I just want to worry about playing good footy.''
