It is a week dedicated to the celebration of the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Wimmera Aboriginal Cooperative Goolum Goolum has many events across the week, with the main events being held on Monday, July 5.
Starting at 8.30am, there will be a flag raising at the Goolum Goolum cooperative. .
There will be a breakfast from 8.30am and the flag raising will start at 9am, including a smoking ceremony. The event will conclude at 9.45am
From 10am, at the Horsham Town Hall's Regional Art Gallery the NAIDOC Art Exhibition will open, featuring art from Wimmera based Indigenous. There will be a morning tea at the opening.
IN OTHER NEWS:
In Stawell, there will be a community gathering at Goolum's new community centre located on Leslie street.
This will be held on Monday, July 5 from 2pm to 4pm.
On Wednesday, July 7, there will be an evening exhibit at the Horsham Town Hall's Regional Art Gallery. This will feature Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples art.
RECONCILIATION WEEK : Wimmera reflects on National Reconciliation Week
On Friday, July 9, there will be a Heal Country Walk. Heal Country is the 2021 NAIDOC week theme.
This will be held at the Horsham Weir park and will run from 10am to 3pm.
