The round is dedicated to eliminating deaths and serious injuries on the roads and is a statewide initiative designed to involve the entire community.
All WFNL and HDFNL players and supporters (if they so choose) will wear blue armbands to show their support for the important cause. Each armband contains a QR code containing stories from an ever-growing number of Victorians on why road safety matters to them.
This year's message to encourage safe driving is 'a reminder we all have someone to drive safely for'.
MORE NEWS:
AFL Wimmera-Mallee manager Jason Muldoon said the focus was about getting on the front foot when it comes to road safety.
"In the past, we've worn the black armbands to symbolise lives that have been lost so the idea is to be a little bit proactive and wear the blue ones..." Muldoon said.
"Instead of looking after it's happened, the TAC have decided to be proactive and put that into people's minds."
Muldoon said the issue of road safety was something that was "really pertinent" to the Wimmera region.
"With such a massive region from the border to Ararat and up to Hopetoun down to Harrow, we have to travel a long way, so it's really a cause that AFL Wimmera-Mallee is certainly getting behind and hoping that all the clubs get behind it as well," he said.
