While snowy peaks in the Wimmera are impressive, take some time to appreciate the picture taken by Alice Gubbins atop Mount Sturgeon, capturing a rare Brocken spectre optical effect.

According to Encyclopedia Britannica, Brocken spectres are formed from the enormously magnified shadow of an observer cast upon clouds underneath a mountain peak.
Often, the "spectre" is surrounded by a ring of rainbow, caused by diffraction of light off water droplets in the cloud.
The result is a bit beautiful, a bit spooky.
