CWTA president Jeremy Quast said clubs were starting to get organised and were reaching out to their members to gauge interest. The Association is encouraging anyone who is keen to play tennis (senior or junior) to let their local club know that they are keen.
Team nominations are open now and will close sometime in late August. There will then be grading followed by a draw release.
MORE NEWS:
Quast said the Association was hoping to have similar numbers to last season, "especially in the lower divisions".
Clubs have also been encouraged to prepare their COVID-19 safe plans for the season ahead.
"It's just getting little things like that organised now rather than last minute. It's all going well," Quast said.
The make up of the competitions this year will be similar to last season.
"We're looking at still having six teams in Pennant this year," Quast said.
"We're still looking at the same ten teams in A special and eight and six for A Grade and B special.
"It's all looking really positive, we have a lot of interest."
In other good news for the association, a new naming-sponsor has just signed up in Wimmera Aquatrail.
"We're also looking at getting a couple of little sponsors on board as well," Quast said.
"Many years ago we only had one sponsor, now we're looking at having multiple or three or four sponsors.
"It sort of represents how tennis is going in the region.
"If businesses are prepared to put their name to us then we must be doing something right."
Junior and senior CWTA competitions are scheduled to begin on October 9.
