Greening Australia planted 90,000 Stringybark trees across 500 hectares in the Wimmera and 860 hectares within Victoria's Drajurk State Forest.
This project was funded by the Victorian Government's Biodiversity Response Planning Program, the project aims to increase food supply for the red tails.
It is believed there are only 1500 of these birds left in Australia.
IN OTHER NEWS:
Greening Australia contracted the Dalki Garringa nursery, run by the Barengi Gadjin Land Council (BGLC), to propagate and grow on the stringybark seedlings for this year's planting in Wimmera.
The BGLC represents Traditional Owners of the Wotjobaluk, Jaadwa, Jadawadjali, Wergaia and Jupagulk people.
Jess Gardner, Greening Australia's senior ecologist in the Wimmera, said that they are pleased to be working with BGLC and the Dalki Garringa nursery to deliver quality conservation projects that care for country.
"We know that breeding success for the South-eastern red-tailed black cockatoo depends on having a reliable food source close to the nest, so the birds spend less time away foraging for food," Ms Gardner said.
"The Eucalyptus arenacea or Desert Stringybarks supplied by Dalki Garringa will help ensure there's the future food supply we need to increase populations of the endangered red-tails."
Earlier this year was the yearly red-tailed black cockatoo count which is a part of the South-eastern Red-tailed Black Cockatoo Recovery Program.
More than 50 volunteers searched 1098km across the Wimmera with 26 sightings and a count of 627 birds.
