The Horsham Horse Show will now take place on October 10, following the movement of the Royal Melbourne Show to October and changes to fit the event in line with other shows on the Wimmera run.
This will push the horse show two weeks out from the Horsham Agricultural Show, which was typically held alongside the event.
Horsham Agricultural Society secretary Andrea Cross said the committee was moving forward with trepidation, but looked forward to delivering horse shows again in the Wimmera.
"A mid-week show was hindering our ability to attract enough volunteers to help us run the event. We decided that if we could run a weekend event it would meet that need," she said.

"We have condensed it to be a one day show and running four rings. Previously it was a two day event, so we have made it a more refined event. It will feature all breeds as well as ridden and led sections. From small ponies right through to heavy horses."
In 2020, Horsham Agricultural Society hosted Victoria's first virtual agricultural show, with attendees able to tune into the event through social media.
Ms Cross said 2021 had already seen the cancellation of many agricultural events, and the committee was determined to be able to host both shows this year.
"Working with the lockdowns, we live in hope that we can go ahead in mid-October. While nothing is set in stone these days we have learned how to put events together and we have learned how to stop them, put them on pause and pivot pretty quickly in terms of how to deliver events," she said.
"While it is not fun, it is still deliverable and we just hope that the restrictions lift. A horse show is a bit different because it doesn't attract a crowd, it really only attracts the competitors and their supporters. In terms of numbers it is a little bit easier to manage as a stand alone event.
"Like all events, COVID leaves us in an uncertain situation. Nothing is certain until the week of an event, and even then it is not certain. These are the things as event organisers we have to deal with, so let's focus on what we can do and not what we can't."
As the committee works to finalise the program, bookings for stables and campsites are now open via www.nominate.com.au.
Organisers have also created a new Facebook page exclusively for the Horsham Horse Show, with the most up-to-date information.
