The call aims to rally 1000 extra members under the hashtag #1000HASmembership, a goal which will allow the society to continue delivering its roster of events.
Horsham Agricultural and Pastoral Society secretary Andrea Cross said the callout had a successful start, with 70 new members signing on on the first day of the drive.
"The ding noise of new emails coming through, it is music to my ears, and I am happy to listen to any number of ding dings until we reach 1000," she said.
"The idea is to get 1000 people in Horsham to sign on, which is less than we get to the show and on new years eve, we only want a thousand."

Ms Cross said the society had been fielding calls from as far as Adelaide, with people looking to support the group because of childhood memories of the show.
"To me, it demonstrates that people do care , they do care about this precinct down here, they do care about our traditions and our history," she said.
"For example I got one from South Australia, she wanted to say that their family has had an alliance with the ag society for generations and the memories are really important.
"I have had one from New South Wales, a few from Melbourne and Ballarat. So expats are starting to kick into gear and that is exciting.
"If people can recall their childhoods, when people think about their teenage years or childhoods and remember the Horsham Show. While things have changed a lot over the years, we are essentially the same in our management structure and our quest to keep the Maydale Reserve as a meeting place full stop."
