Councilors voted to split the recommendation into three sections; voting on each of the projects individually.
These three projects are City Oval and Sawyer Park redevelopment, the Laharum Community Facility at Cameron Oval and the Aquatic Centre, which is a two stage project including hydrotherapy, sauna, splash park and playground.
IN OTHER NEWS:
The purpose of this agenda item was to agree that council would endorse these as priorities for grant funding projects for political advocacy purposes.
The City Oval and Sawyer Park redevelopment was the only item that caused some controversy with a split vote.
Councillors Claudia Haenel, Di Bell and Ian Ross voted against this project being endorsed.
Cr Ross was concerned that several other projects needed to be completed before Sawyer park was made a priortiy.
He mentioned the need for new homes for the Brass Band and Men's Shed.
The other two projects passed unanimously.
Councillor Les Power said it was vital to seek funding where funding was available for large scale projects.
"If we don't apply, we don't get the funding," he said.
"It's that simple. Funding is funding."
Mayor Robyn Gulline agreed stating this was the best chance to achieve these projects.
