SITE remediation works continue at the Lemon Springs alleged illegal waste dump, with a third excavation site due to be completed in the coming weeks.

More than 560 tonnes of waste has been removed from the site to licensed EPA facilities for treatment and processing.
A second hardstand pad for the treatment of contaminated soil will be constructed onsite.
A hardstand pad is a paved or hard surface area that is stable for vehicles. This will allow further onsite remediation works and will mean soil can be reused onsite where possible.

There are now nine groundwater monitoring wells onsite in targeted locations. The waster from these wells was tested in early August 2021. Results continue to show no signs of contamination to the groundwater.
In 2020, EPA took control of the site and clean-up after the duty holder failed to do so. Charges have since been laid against Graham Leslie White for breaches of the Environment Protection Act.
