The club moved across from the Kowree-Naracoorte-Tatiara Football League for the 2021 season due to border uncertainty.
That same uncertainty was cited as the reason the club has decided to remain in the HDFNL.
Club president Jason Gordon praised the League and AFL Victoria for welcoming Kaniva-Leeor into the competition this year.
"We're rapt at the reception we got from all the Horsham District League clubs," he said.
"It was outstanding; we were accepted, welcomed with open arms and really looked after.

"Jason Muldoon and Jen French have gone beyond the call of duty; delivering bad news that has been delivered to them is not a very pleasant job.
"They've kept everyone interested in the footy season and focussed on what was happening."
Gordon said the club's goal was to be able to play in 2021.
"We gave up a hundred years of history leaving the Naracoorte league, but we wouldn't have been able to play more than about four or five games over there, so the club's decision was a good one," he added.
Gordon said the club faced unprecedented issues with the border bubble and switching leagues, but that game time had made the changes worth it.
According to Gordon, the Kaniva community was a big part of the club's successful first year in the league.

"I genuinely think the support of the community has been overwhelmingly good," he said.
"The Kaniva-Leeor faithful realised we weren't far off from not having a team and they just really got behind us."
Gordon said the club had made the decision early, so it could move forward and begin recruiting and announcing coaches, something it was unable to do at this time last year.
"When we were having these meetings in October or November last year, regarding where we are going to play we decided to wait until February, and then in February we had another lockdown."
"By making the choice now, we can move forward as a club."
