During the council meeting for Yarriambiack Shire on Wednesday, September 29, the council property on 18 Cromie Street was on the agenda due to an end of lease for the storage on the property.
The public use land contains the public toilet facility and storage behind the toilet block.
It was recommended that one of the four sheds be demolished due to asbestos.
IN OTHER NEWS:
The value to re-lease the storage are is around $2600 per year.
Director of community services and wellbeing Gavin Blinman said the land was looked to be either sold or released.
"Council has some options," Ms Blinman said.
"Given the land is zoned for public use and can only be used for storage
"$10,000 in reality is not really going to cover what it will cost us to remove the asbestos and tidy up the block."
It was recommended the land not be placed up for sale with the value of the land being assessed at $10,000 which would not cover the cost of removing the sheds.
The lease that recently lapsed was with a business in the area for a number of years.
Mr Blinman said there was already a business who was interested in leasing the storage.
"Council hasn't used the block for over 20 years, it has been leased by local companies,' he said.
"It supports the town in that regard."
Council will place an expression on interest to lease the storage on public exhibition.
