In 2022, the award has tightened its selection criteria, requiring applicants to have an existing project, business or program which falls into the Community, Collaboration or Commerical categories.
Previous finalists' projects range from empowering indigenous communities and improving rural resilience, to food security improvement systems and bringing STEM to remote communities.
AgriFutures manager director John Harvey encouraged any women making a difference in their regional community to apply.
"We know there are so many rural women doing amazing things in their industries and communities and we want to hear from them," he said.

"If you know someone who is actively contributing to rural and regional Australia, tap them on the shoulder.
"We hear time and time again, that it is often the friendly encouragement from someone else, that gets applicants over the line to apply."
Winners are selected from each state, with each one receiving a $15,000 bursary to bring to life a project which benefits rural industries businesses or communities.
They will also enter into the running for the national award, and a further $20,000 in project funding.
Kelly Barnes, from Dunkeld, was the 2020 Victorian Rural Women's Awards winner in recognition of her work in establishing a Working Dog Training School.
The training program comprises small group sessions over a 12-month period to provide practical skills in dog handling while breaking down social isolation and building resilience in her community.
Ms Barnes is in the running to win the 2020 National AgriFutures Rural Women's Award on 20 October, which was postponed last year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Applications for the 2022 AgriFutures Rural Women's Award close on Friday, 8 October.
