"Seb is an honest and genuine guy, who has been a very good player for a number of years," Gallagher said.
"More recently his versatility and willingness to play multiple roles for the team has become a really important aspect of his football.
"A lot of Seb's work goes unnoticed externally, but inside the four walls, we recognise just how important he is to our side on a number of fronts.
"We look forward to seeing what Seb can produce in the coming seasons."
Ross played 20 games in a multitude of positions for the Saints in 2021 and finished seventh in the Trevor Barker Medal count; the sixth consecutive year that he has finished inside the top ten.
He is a former vice-captain of St Kilda and a two-time club best and fairest, who was taken by the Saints with pick 25 in the 2011 National Draft.
