As part of his eighth birthday Shannon Moloney's son Jayden has offered his old Spiderman bike as a Christmas present to a family in need.

Mrs Moloney, who posted the offer to three Facebook groups in the area, said the idea began after Jayden received a new BMX for his birthday.

"He got a bike from his friend next door. We planned to buy him one already, so we sold that one without him knowing to his uncle and bought a new one for him," she said.

"Because he had a new bike, he decided to give away his old one because he is too big for it, he doesn't need it."

After the post went up over the weekend, Mrs Moloney said she has been inundated with messages of support and praise for Jayden's generosity.

The family has even given the Spiderman bike a wash and polish, to get it into the best condition for its new owner.

"We were washing our cars and he said why don't we wash the bike. So we have washed and polished it up," she said.

"It is huge. I thought I would have heard from more people wanting it, but people have been commenting how amazing it is and how good Jayden is.

"I have read him all of the comments on the three posts and he just goes all bright red and gooey getting compliments. He does love it."

Jayden said he felt good giving away his bike, and loved the new BMX his parents got him.

"It feels good," he said.

"My new bike is a BMX bike and it looks sick."

A Horsham community member has also reached out to Mrs Moloney to donate a $50 Drift83 voucher, which will be given to the bike's new owner to purchase a helmet.

"She is actually going to come and deliver it to Jayden after school, she said she wanted to meet the awesome little man," she said."

Drift 83 owner Mark Sansom will also provide a $30 voucher to Jayden and his sister Sophie to use in his store, after hearing their story of impressive generosity.

Mrs Moloney said after seeing the response to Jayden's post, Sophie has also offered her Barbie doll as a Christmas gift for a family in need.

"His little sister decided she wanted some comments, so she dressed up her Barbie and we put it on Facebook as well. She has had almost the same response," she said.

She said she was proud of her two children's generosity.

"It is something that we have always been that way. It might just be the way I was brought up," she said.

"If I can help somebody I will and I guess it has rubbed off onto my kids. They continue to surprise us. He is a really sweet kid. I hope he just stays that way."
