In early October, recreational water was allocated to the location for the first time since 2019, with 2500 megalitres destined for Green Lake.

Libby Peucker had been an advocate for Green lake since 2007 was excited to see Green Lake being utilised again for the community.

"It's important to the whole community," she said.

"This spot is perfect. There are family connections here, people who have been coming here for generations."

Neville McIntyre said in the 1960s there would be thousands of fishers lining up the shore.

"There would be fishers on the shore and boats out on the lake," he said.

On Sunday, October 24, the committee held a working bee to help tidy up the shoreline.

"Green Lake CFA fire truck was here overseeing some burning we did," Libby said.

There were about 30 people in attendance pulling up weeds, clearing up the area and planning out a garden near the yacht club.

Later there will be some slashing to clear away debris from the yacht club.

Leigh McGennisken and Russell Peucker used a little harrow and tractor to rake along the shore line to clear up debris and loosen the sand.

Another working bee was held on Saturday, October 30.

The committee had dedicated a lot of hours and elbow grease to clearing the area.

"It will be buzzing on those 30 degree days," Ms Peucker said.

"It will be something for the whole community to look forward to for summer."

The first sailing event will be coming up soon, with more details to come.

The water was allocated by GWMWater and Horsham council has agreed to pay for it using existing budgeted funds of $60,000.

The lake is at 47 per cent full.

"And increasing," Ms Peucker said happily.
