Each week, the Mail-Times has a chat with a player from one of the region's community cricket clubs.
This week the Mail-Times caught up with Jung wicketkeeper Josiah Mock.
How long have you been with the club? This will be my third season with Jung, I used to play juniors elsewhere at West Wimmera but I came across with my family and we were looking for a club to play with. I've been playing at Jung with my dad and my brother since then, which has been great.
What's your favourite part about playing cricket? I love the social side of it, there's not many other sports where you get to spend six hours in the sun, chin-wagging all day. I would definitely not be doing it if I didn't have a good bunch of mates to play cricket with. It's a good social occasion and getting out and exercising are all big plusses.

Who's the funniest member of the team? I reckon Zoomer's very profound in his statements, they're not always the best but they're definitely a good giggle on the field. He provides the entertainment.

Who can you rely on in a tough spot during a match? Our captain Angus Adams is very consistent with the ball and bat, so when crunch time comes you can probably rely on his shoulders. But we're a very balanced team, we play well when we play as a team.
Who is your favourite cricketer? As a keeper myself, I've always enjoyed Gilchrist and his work. I always enjoy watching his highlights. He was good to watch live too, back in the day. His fifty-ball hundred was incredible.

What's the best piece of advice you've received as a player? Watching the ball is a big one. Another piece of advice is to move my feet. As a keeper and a batsman it's integral to keep your feet on the front foot or the back foot, going left to right. It all starts from there. It's also important to enjoy it - if you get too caught up in the competition you're going to lose passion when you start losing. It's bound to happen eventually.
