Early in the afternoon rain did threaten to bring a premature end to the action, however, within the hour it had cleared.

In the Pennant division, plenty of quality tennis was on show.
A tight contest was played out between Horsham Lawn and Kalkee. Kalkee playing away, just got over the line in the end by a single game - 6-67 to 6-66.
Both teams finished with three wins apiece in the doubles and singles matchups.
The closest rubber in the contest was in the women's doubles between Horsham Lawn's Tahlia Thompson and Gemma Walker and Kalkee's Emily Polack and Paula Weidemann. Horsham Lawn ultimately prevailed in that affair 8-7.
Kalkee's Melissa Beddison also had an impressive 8-3 win over star singles player Cherie Wood.
In the battle of Drung, it was Drung South Purple who came up trumps against Drung South Orange.
The Purple side won 8-79 to 4-60 and picked up four out of six sets in both the singles and doubles.
They were aided by big singles wins from Aaron Jennings, Dylan Emmerson, Yolanda Francis and Kate Lyn-Perkin.
The tie between Central Park and St Michael's was also a reasonably close one. St Michael's showed their strength as the reigning premiers, winning 7-77 to 5-54.
MORE NEWS:
Central Park recruits Lance Avdyugin and Matt Jones played well on debut for their new side while Central Park's Brendan Nitschke and St Michael's Kassie Peachey, Angela Nitschke and Jess McDonald all had days to remember, each winning all three of their matches.
Similar to the Pennant the A Special competition also saw a contest decided by a mere one game.
In that battle, St Michael's defeated Brimpaen 7-81 to 7-80.
Brimpaen dominated the singles winning three out of four sets thanks to victories from Luke, Ben and Courtney Dunn.
In the doubles, however, St Michael's turned the tables winning six of the ten possible sets.
Also in the A Special Telangatuk East and Horsham Lawn Gillespie, both had strong 12-2 victories over Drung South and Kalkee respectively.
Back to the Pennant competition and round two will see round one winners St Michael's and Drung South go head-to-head in what should be an entertaining spectacle.
Kalkee will play Drung South Orange, while Horsham Lawn takes on Central Park.
