The weather gods tried their best to put a dampener on the HCA Junior Comps last weekend but after all but one U14 game on Friday night was washed out we had some fantastic team and individual highlights across our U12 and U16 Competitions.

In wet, wintery and freezing conditions at Davis Park in Nhill, the West Wimmera Warriors had their second win for the year against Blackheath-Dimboola.
It was the only game to be played across the Association. The Warriors batted first, highlighted by openers Rylan Schneider 10 (20) and Byron Merrett 17*.
Brodie Foster making a quick fire 20* to help the Warriors to a total of 7-102. For the fielding side Ava Clark kept well.

By the second innings the weather had really come in cold and extra coats were being run out by the 12th man instead of water. Blackheath-Dimboola made 6-79, Abbey Williams led the way with 14, striking the ball well.
The U12 Competition saw Jung Black welcome Homers to the tiger den for round two.
Despite the cooler temperature, both sides were eager to start the game.
Homers were first to the crease with Jas Hopper (24) Archie Mackley (21) and Cooper Inkster (19) strong with the bat.
The Tigers remained calm, consistent and displayed great sportsmanship and team work with Emmanuel Amilegbe, taking his first wicket with his very first ball bowled.
Amilegbe finished with an impressive 3-5 whilst Andy Brown (3-9), Archie Knight (2-7) and Joel Mock (2-14) rounding out the top wicket takers for the day.

When it came time to bat, the Tigers put on a consistent show with Declan Penhall making 12, Sam.Nurse 8 and Emmanuel Amilegble 7 taking out the top batsmen honors. Homers bowlers were also strong with Jas Hopper taking 3-9 and Archie Mackley 2-13.
Meanwhile Jung Yellow ventured up the highway to Dimboola to take on Dunmunkle Black. The Tiger cubs put up a gallant effort against a very experienced side.
Rhys Penny was consistent with the bat and played some pretty impressive shots to finish with 9 as did Cody Stewart (9) and Rory Hudson (7). Dunmunkle's Lenny Clark was on fire taking (3-10), with Dane Pacch (2-5) and Ethan King (2-15) rounding out their top three bowlers for the day.
Some strong batting by Dunmunkle, saw Max Spokes make 23, Lenny Clark 19 and both Edward and Albert Schorback finish with 17.
Joel Plazzer managed to take the only wicket for the Tigers, finishing with 1-14.
OTHER NEWS:
Horsham Saints U12 side was invited to play against Homers in an unscheduled match this round. Saints won the toss and took to the field with Finn 'Savage' O'Loughlin taking the gloves for the first time.
The bowling was missing some venom early and the boys needed to pump each other up!! Inroads were finally made as the innings progressed with Jed Rudge (1-6), Jackson 'The Demon' Touhey (1-6), Denzel Joseph (1-7), and Gus Clyne (1-8).
A special mention to Hunter as captain bowling 4 overs for 11 and turning the ball beautifully, including a googly.
With the bat, Brydon 'The Beast' McPhee made 12 including a pull shot for 6 and was well supported by Touhey (15*).
Clyne ran his mouth more than between wickets for 3 before Alan 'Kool Kat' Kuriakose 13 and Joseph 8 got the team rolling again. Final scores Saints 86; Homers 96.
In the U16 Competition Colts soundly beat the young Horsham Saints side with Dylan Newell and Logan Miller both reaching 50 retired out.
Dunmunkle Renegades accounted for the Mountain Ants to complete the round with Oscar Gawith (52*) the high bat.
