Before councillors could debate the local laws, several public questions were sent in from concerned community members.

These included queries from two separate people about why their questions were not answered during the previous meeting held in October.

This was answered by council staff stating that these would be responded to after the decision was made after the November meeting held on Monday, November 22.

The local laws must be approved before the 2011 local laws sunset on December 19, 2021.

The officer report recommended a series of items for councillors to approve.

Councillor Di Bell raised several queries about the Community Local Laws 2021 Act to clarify issues.

She first asked if anything could be changed in the document if something was overlooked.

Director of communities and places Kevin O'Brien said that the whole document would need to be re-reviewed if there was an issue.

Mayor Robyn Gulline said it was essential to go over the document and ensure everything was correct.

Several alterations were made during the council meeting, even after three briefings to fine-tune the local laws were held before the council meeting was held to adopt the document.

"We went through bit line by line over three briefings," Cr Guiline said.

"Hopefully what we have ended up with is going to met our communities needs for the next 10 years."

The Community Local Laws 2021 recommendation was passed 6-0, with Councillor Claudia Haenel abstaining.

Public questions that were submitted relating to local laws will receive a written response.
