During the statutory meeting, held on Wednesday, November 24, by absolute majority, deputy mayor Kylie Zanker was voted by fellow councillors as the new mayor.
The meeting was chaired by chief executive officer Jessie Holmes.
The council first voted to continue the one year term for the mayor.
Nominations for mayor were open to all councillors and required a fellow councillor to second the nomination.

Outgoing mayor Cr Massey nominated Cr Zanker who accepted the nomination.
The nomination was seconded by Cr Corinne Heintze.
There was a second nomination for Cr Andrew McLean.
Cr McLean was nominated by Cr Chris Lehmann and was seconded by Cr Karly Kirk.
Incoming mayor Cr Zanker won by absolute majority with votes from councillors Karly Kirk, Corinne Heintze, Graeme Massey, Tom Hamilton, and Kylie Zanker.
Cr Zanker thanked outgoing mayor Graeme Massey for his work over the past five year.
"I'd like to thank him for his service over five mayoral terms and amazing service to the community," she said.
"They weren't easy years.":
Cr Zanker said Yarriambiack council was in a great place.
"We're set up in such a great place," she said.
"It's such an exciting time for our council."
She said she looked forward to working with council staff, fellow councillors, executive officer Jessie Holmes moving forward.
The deputy mayor role received one nomination which was for Cr Karly Kirk.
Cr Kirk was nominated by Cr Zanker and was seconded by Cr Corinne Heintze.
Cr Kirk won unanimously.
This role will take place for 12 months, the same term as mayor.
Cr Kirk was equally thrilled to take on this role with council.
"Thank you," she said.
"I'm excited for coming times."
