The next stage is to get feedback from the community on these proposed new speed limits for Lascelles and Warracknabeal.
A short survey is now open for input from these communities and will be open until February 4.
IN OTHER NEWS:
The four proposed changes and reasoning are as follows.
Sea Lake Lascelles Road - Lascelles
Residents from Lascelles have raised concerns about the safety of Sea Lake Lascelles Road, with the safety of road users and increased number of pedestrian movements between Sunraysia Highway and East of Mahrong Street.
It is proposed to reduce the current speed limit of 80 km/h to 60 km/h from East of Mahrong Street to the Sunraysia Highway and extend the current 80 km/h speed buffer 800 m long heading East from Mahrong Street location.
Sunraysia Highway - Lascelles
With the increases number of tourism vehicles through the silo art trail and business activities between the section of Cicely Street and Mallee Street, it has been requested to become a 60 km/h speed limit zone. The current speed limit in this location is 80 km/h.
This change is intended to provide safer access to the silo art and produce a slower speed environment, leading to a reduced risk for any accidents/road trauma and increased tourism activities.

Scott Street - Warracknabeal
During community consultations held in 2021, residents were concerned about the current speed limit of 50 km/h in the main Street. The community members present requested to lower the current speed limit to 40 km/h from Kelsall Street to Lyle Street.
As a result of the significant and ongoing growth of pedestrian activities, presence of kerbside parking and frequent parking manoeuvres, continuous and directly abutting retail shops both sides of the road, and other businesses activities, a 40 km/h speed limit is proposed on the section between Kelsall Street and Lyle Street.
Lyle Street - Warracknabeal
The Neighbourhood Watch Committee made a request to Council in 2021, to reduce the current speed limit of 60 km/h to 50 km/h on Lyle Street, within the section of the Henty Highway to the Dimboola bridge. In the proposed road segment, between Campbell Street and the Dimboola bridge, there is a time based 40 km/h speed limit applied due to a school zone.
The default speed limits of 50 km/h in built - up areas (Road Safety Road Rules 2009) could apply.
