IN OTHER NEWS:
Family members along with Yarriambiack council have been working towards a childcare facility for years.
Families spoke about the lack of childcare and how it has impacted them and council have also spoken previously about the journey to get to this point.
"Following consultation in 2019, 2020 and 2021, the demand for childcare has been clearly established and the southern communities see it as a critical component of growth and liveability for families moving or residing in the region," Ms Holmes said.
The money is to match the application for $400,000 from the Building Better Regions Round 6.
Chief executive officer for Yarriambiack Shire, Jessie Holes said the childcare centre would bolster the region economically and for liveability.
These are key criteria for the Building Better Regions fundings.
Ms Holmes also noted the job opportunities the centre will bring.
"The direct jobs that come from a 30 place childcare will bring to the area is 75 NFT," she said.
"The in-direct jobs is 28.5.
"The economic modelling for this application for employment is huge. On top of that the social benefits and economic benefits from having service in the region to retain and attract families to Dunmunkle is paramount."
Applications are due by February 14 and require confirmation of matching funding.
