Water police and coast guard crews were called to an artificial reef east of the island about 1.30pm.
A Westpac Lifesaver Rescue Helicopter had also been sent to the scene.
Police could not confirm if anyone else was on the boat at the time of the incident.
Moreton Bay conditions have been treacherous today, with gusts recorded to 65km/hr at Cape Moreton.
The Weather Bureau bay forecast was for winds 37km/hr.
Police and marine rescue authorities have had to handle a string of rescues in Moreton Bay this year.
In July a 21-year-old international student died while kayaking in Moreton Bay.
Senior Sergeant Gary Worrell said the man headed out kayaking from Dunwich to Peel Island on Wednesday morning with six friends.
His six friends had to be rescued after weather conditions turned against them.
The month before two men were rescued in rough conditions when they went for a sail in a small catamaran late in the day. It capsized off Wellington Point.
In May a man close to death from fatigue and cold was rescued off Wellington Point after 40km/hr winds swamped his small craft.
