On Thursday, July 22, 142 people were tested, well above average daily figures of around 40 tests.
"Testing numbers have settled down marginally from late last week but the testing clinic is still busier than it had previously been," a Wimmera Health Care Group spokesperson said.
"It is gratifying to know that the Wimmera community is doing the right thing and getting tested. This goes a long way to ensuring the safety of our community against this life threatening virus."
IN OTHER NEWS:
Testing numbers settled down in the following week, with 57 people tested on Friday, July 23.
Between Saturday, July 24 and Wednesday, July 28, the testing clinic tested 235 people, averaging 47 people per day.
"We would also like to remind people that the clinic is open every day, including weekends, from 9am to noon," the spokesperson said.
"If you are in line before the closing time, you will be tested, but it is logistically impossible to keep the clinic open for people who turn up at 12.30pm or later and expect to be tested.
"Please respect our team members at the testing clinic and others waiting to be tested and be kind to each other."
