Mario Iacovelli, 48, appeared in Ararat Magistrates' Court via video link on Friday charged with one count of property damage after breaking a door in his mother's Ararat home.
On October 26, 2020 Iacovelli was involved in a verbal altercation with his mother during which he was told he could not live at her house any longer due to ongoing issues.
During the argument, Iacovelli slammed a hallway door in the home, breaking a bottom hinge and causing damage valued at $100.

Iacovelli pleaded guilty to the charge and chose to represent himself in court.
He attended the Ararat Police Station on October 28, 2020 and made no admissions.
Iacovelli told the court the argument came after the death of his father, which brought him emotional distress.
"I had just lost my father and just lost it, why would you kick your son out of your own house," he said.
Magistrate Jonathan Klestadt convicted and fined Iacovelli $200.
