After winning the Wimmera Football Netball League premiership in 2019, the Burras' netballers would have been hoping to finish the year higher than eighth.

To be fair to the Burras' netballers they had a significantly different side to 2019, so 2021 became a rebuilding year.
They finished the year with just two wins.

The team did however start to find their feet towards the back end of the season where they really did start to challenge some of the better teams.
Despite it being a tough season Burras' coach Jessie Newell was able to find the positives.
"When you compare it to 2020 the season went ahead and I think that's a strong positive and really if someone had asked us this question at the start of 2021, that really was our aim, to get people out playing netball," Newell said.
"Ultimately the results probably haven't rolled in our favour and we felt like we were building a really strong second half of the year."
The side's two victories against Nhill and Ararat both came in the season's second half and Newell attributed her side's improved form to her players starting to increase their chemistry.
"Again I'm a new coach too. I think all of those factors have played into us probably feeling more settled once the first half of the season had rolled on," she said.
"Once they got to know each other more they did start to gel and fingers crossed we can retain everyone for next year."
For a side that according to Newell is "probably one of the shortest in the league", the Burras did well to remain competitive with some of the taller teams.
For them to take it to the next level Newell said it is all about elevating their consistency, however, she believed that would come with time.
Rather than name individual standout players from her side, Newell wanted to give a shoutout to every player across the league that has handled the constant change of 2021.
She did, however, give mention to Hayley Campbell who had been travelling from Melbourne to play all year and consequently missed a few games and Angie Clark who was a big improver after returning to netball in 2021.
