Brett Insall appeared before the Horsham Magistrates' Court on Monday, September 20, pleading guilty to shoplifting.
On Saturday, November 14, 2020, Insall entered the Horsham Kmart at 8.10am, walking directly to the electronics section at the rear of the store.
Insall removed headphones and a soundbar from its packaging and placed the items in his backpack. He put the empty packaging back on the shelves.

He then left the store without paying.
At 8.30am, police officers came across Insall sitting on a park bench on Darlot Street. They searched his backpack and found the two distinctive items inside.
The officers went to Kmart and reviewed the CCTV, and became aware of the theft.
The officers went to Insall's Horsham residence at 10.10am to arrest him but found he was not fit for an interview.
A search warrant was executed at Insall's home at 4.40pm, and both items were recovered. The items were worth $45.
Defence counsel Simon Torpy said Insall was remorseful and highlighted a history of health issues that influenced his actions.
Magistrate Tim Walsh placed Insall on a six-month good behaviour bond.
