Kmart Horsham store manager Suzanne Puls said it's a great time to give, even something small will make someone's Christmas.

This year's message for the appeal is 'small gift, big heart.'

"The importance of the appeal is giving to people who don't have enough this time of year," Ms Puls said.

"It's for all ages, just a small gift makes their day and helps them out."

Highly sought after gifts include books, sporting equipment, school supplies, educational toys, headphones and toiletries.

Ms Pulz said each year the Horsham Kmart Wishing Tree Appeal gives about $1000 worth of presents to those in need.

"On average we get about $1000 worth of presents every year and last year we achieved that as well," she said.

"The response in Horsham is great."

Shoppers can also use the QR code to donate money to the appeal.

Kmart ask the presents be left unwrapped and cannot accept second hand presents.

Gifts do not need to be purchased from Kmart to be donated under the Wishing Tree.

The appeal wraps up on December 24.
