Before the 2021 season's abandonment, the Saints were sitting in seventh place on the ladder; which is something Cannane is hoping to rectify in 2022.
"I think if we actually played out the season our A grade netball side would have been the only side in our club that didn't make finals," Cannane said.

"So we're looking to turn that around and as we've experienced in the past we only need to have a little sniff of making the top five and then anything can happen from there.
"The last times we've won flags we've managed to win from fifth."
Cannane who played for the A Grade side in 2021 is confident that the side will retain most of its players.
"I think we'll end up having a pretty similar side to what we had last year, so it's nice going into the head coaching role knowing that we've got potentially the same crew," she said.
"I've played with those girls for the last few years so I'm looking forward to taking on the coaching role."
Coaching the Saints is nothing new to the longtime A Grader who has steered the side in the past.
She was also set to coach the A and B Grade sides in 2020, before the cancellation of the season.
"It kinda feels like there's a bit of unfinished business to be done," Cannane said.
"Seeing as though I got started and got through most of the hard part (in 2020) but didn't get the reward of actually playing through the season.
"It's something that I've done a couple of times in the past and floated in between coaching seniors and juniors but it's always nice to be able to coach A Grade and challenge yourself in that way."
MORE NEWS:
As for whether she will play and coach next year, Cannane is waiting for the team to finalise its list first.
"We'll see how we go. I'm getting a little bit old," she laughed.
"Unfortunately it's a bit of a funny time of year.
"Not too many netballers are too keen to talk about netball just yet and we'll probably follow those conversations up in January and see where we land."
