In what is a major coup for the region, from Friday January 7 to Sunday January 9 Horsham Lawn Tennis club will host the 2022 Inter-Regional Country tennis Championships - Tennis Victoria's largest regional team event.
The tournament is expected to see the best players from 11 country regions battle it out on the immaculate surface of Horsham's lawn tennis courts in team's and individual events.

Over 220 players are predicted to compete in various age categories, ranging from 12 and Under to 50-Plus.
Wimmera Regional Tennis has named a formidable team of 34 to compete.
Tennis Victoria Chief Executive Officer, Adam Crameri was thrilled to bring a large-scale Tennis Victoria event to Horsham and the Wimmera Region.
"We are very lucky to have Horsham Lawn Tennis Club as the home of the 66th Inter-Regional Country Championships," Mr Crameri said.
"This Tennis Victoria event showcases the range of players from across Regional Victoria, as it integrates female and male events from under 12 to over 50 categories at the one tournament. With a variety of formats played across three days, including Junior and Senior Mixed Doubles Events."
"It's an annual event with a fantastic, friendly atmosphere which players look forward to representing their region. It also gives players a chance to experience a different corner of Victoria each year and we are delighted to be hosted by Horsham in 2022!"
Horsham Rural City Council Mayor Robyn Gulline said the city was proud to be hosting the Championships.
"We welcome all players, their families and supporters to our regional city. I would encourage everyone while they're here to take some time between matches to check out our beautiful river, and our great cafes and restaurants. Good luck to all competitors," Cr Gulline said.
Horsham Lawn Tennis Club were excited to host a large Victorian tennis event and President Hailey Yorke was just as thrilled to bring people to the Wimmera Region.
"The Horsham Lawn Tennis Club (HLTC) is very excited to be hosting the 2022 Inter-regional country championships. We have been working tirelessly to prepare our facilities and organize a memorable and enjoyable event," Ms Yorke said.
"We look forward to welcoming everyone in January."
The event will be boosted by the attendance of the Daphne Akhurst Memorial Trophy and Norman Brookes Challenge Cup - the Women's and Men's Australian Open trophies.

The trophies will be on site, giving players, spectators, and the local community an opportunity to see the silverware which will be, later in the month, held by the 2022 Australian Open Champions.
The event's social atmosphere will be in full swing on Saturday night with food trucks and live music on site.
Barwon Tennis Region will be looking to defend their title after winning the championship at Warrnambool in 2021.
