The West Wimmera town will feature at the Place Branding Australia Conference 2022, held in Hobart, which looks at projects that aim to attract residents, businesses, and visitors - as well as how towns market their unique identities.
The opportunity came along when place branding specialist and conference curator Stu Speirs stopped by the Kaniva and was struck by the town's sense of self.
"The united front presented by the community for decades continues to attract new business talent to town. From the new publican at the beautiful Commercial Hotel, to the Puppet Shop and the community owned petrol station that provides 11 local jobs," he said.

"The fact that those businesses exist today can be put solely down to the work done by so many community members over recent years to unite the town and give it its own distinct identity."
After a strong first impression, Mr Speirs contacted Kaniva and District Progress Association secretary Helen Hobbs and invited her to present at the group's national conference.
The three-day Place Branding Australia conference features high-profile speakers from around Australia and New Zealand, who will share their insights into tourism marketing, placemaking, public arts and economic development.
